Book Tour Guest, Author Jan Romes

Author Interview

What inspired you to write your first book?
It was a combination of my love for reading and penchant for daydreaming. I've had stories swirling around in my head for a long time so I had no choice but to write them down.

How did you come up with the title?
My title for first book, One Small Fib, sort of developed organically from the story – how one little fib can turn your life upside down.

How much of the story is realistic?
Almost none of it of it is real, except the settings, New York City and San Francisco. Everything else in the story is a total manifestation from my imagination.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
Right away, I would have to say friends that I met while taking online writing classes and those I met at writer’s conferences. Others who write understand the struggles, frustrations and finally the joys when a story comes together. They root for you and you do the same for them. It’s truly amazing.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Lately, the love scenes – and it’s mostly due to feedback from people who have read my books. Some folks don’t want anything other than hand holding and sweet kisses, others want more spice. Trying to find that spicy balance, while keeping the love at the forefront of the story, is what seems to take the most time and thought these days.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I would just like to say “Thank you for taking a chance on me!” I get overjoyed when someone decides to read my book, especially when there are so many incredible authors to pick from.

Blurb for One Small Fib:
Allie Blue’s dream of buying the old Smithington mansion and turning it into a bed and breakfast is stomped by a mystery real estate developer with a fancy pen and loaded checkbook. With no bed and breakfast, Allie resorts to one small fib which lands her a flight attendant’s job and the task of pampering Upward Airlines’ most demanding frequent flyer – Kiptyn Thomas, III. Something raw and potent snaps between them, but Allie fights the attraction for the guy who thinks he’s at the top of the food chain. Kiptyn Thomas is used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. Allie Blue both annoys and intrigues him. Will some well-intentioned fibs, a deep dark secret, and similar personalities draw them together or keep them apart?
