Interview

What inspired you to write your first book?

I wanted women to know that they could create generational wealth in any circumstance even in the current economy. You see so many negative things going on right now especially around finances and wealth creation.

Do you have a specific writing style?

My writing style is mostly conversational.

How did you come up with the title?

My Business Coach and I came up with several titles but we decided on the title because it had Power behind it.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I want the readers to know that your past doesn’t define your future. Luxury is an Inside Job and you don’t have to sacrifice yourself to feel luxurious.

How much of the book is realistic?

The majority of the book is realistic.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Both, the majority of the experiences are based upon real life events.

What books have most influenced your life most?

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
I, Tina by Tina Turner and Kurt Loder
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Women on Fire by Debbie Phillips
Failing Forward by John Maxwell
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Dr. Maya Angelou

What book are you reading now?

Good Self, Bad Self by Judy Smith. The show Scandal is based upon her life.

What are your current projects?

I’m working on the second book in the Billionairess Next Door Series and producing a Reality Show that will empower women.

Empowering and Inspiring Women Globally 11/01 by DiannaBelleRose | Women Podcasts

Empowering and Inspiring Women Globally 11/01 by DiannaBelleRose | Women Podcasts

Kirkus Review - A debut memoir of survival from an author who finds strength in her religious faith.
"CW Seymore recounts the horrific physical, emotional and sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father throughout her childhood. The author maintains a calm, unaffected tone; the memoir is never bitter. Readers will be left with the impression of a woman who endured a traumatic childhood and came to understand how it shaped her; along the way, she maintained a sense of strength driven by both her own personality and the support she drew from her faith." -- Kirkus Review

"Shards of Glass will push all your buttons and wake you up to the reality many of us live with, but seldom acknowledge or write about. It is simultaneously horrific and hopeful, striking a fine balance between facing
down  the barrel of violence and not letting it define who we are or how we survive."
--Gabriel Constans: Ph.D. Author: "Don't Just Sit There, Do Something!" "Grief's Wake Up Call" and"Good Grief: Love, Loss & Laughter."

"As a Humanitarian and Writer I fully endorse "Shards Of Glass" by CW Seymore. I Commend her Tenacity, Spirit, Faith in GOD and Courage to painfully reveal her story. CW will open wide the eyes of the reader to this
problem and give hope and inspiration to those who have equally suffered the nightmare of abuse and will touch the hearts of all of us to stand up, takenote, be responsible and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Two Thumbs Up! This Book Should Be On The Best Sellers List!"

Special Guest Today- Paul Beeley, Book Cover Designer

About me

I have always been creative. My complete inability to draw any kind of eye pleasing image was lost on me at the age of 7. Having a creative personality as I'm sure all you readers can understand means you get a strong urge to create something.
My first urge was as an author, not a published one, a hobby that I use to love. I used to write short stories for friends, funny takes on children’s stories; I even wrote a novel
once that still resides in one of my old cupboards, 900 pages of hand written type.  I will finish it one day!
I have a young son, and I am very much the doting Dad. When your 4 year old tells you he wants to appear in his own Star Wars picture with both Jedis, what can you do! As I was playing around with Design software at the time, I decided to teach myself the skills to create a good realistic image.
Image 1
He loved it, the following months he had me creating images of him with Dragons, Dinosaurs, Spiderman and other childhood favorites!
Over time, friends approached me asking me to design images for there kids to which I did and they loved, I also had friends asking for images with there partners in – Us blokes are just big kids after all!
Orders were coming through thick and fast. I got so busy, people started offering payments for images to be completed for Birthdays and anniversaries. Lots of people were telling me to set this up as a commercial enterprise. So I took the plunge.

I had an inquiry from an author, one day, wondering as to whether it would be possible to create her a book cover for her novel. She said that she had had one done but wasn't keen on it. I had never thought of doing book covers, but realized that this would be a brilliant extra ribbon to my bow so to speak. So I spent the day working on it, and sent it off to her! She loved it! After a few months through word of mouth I was getting more and more orders from new authors requiring that finishing touch to there masterpiece. I started to get more orders for book covers than the original business plan of personalized imagery! I loved it! A year down the line I had a steady stream of covers booked and the icing on the cake that year was to hear that the first cover that I did was actually been made into a big Movie in the US!

I still work full time in the day and only do the book cover design in the evenings and weekends; this gives me a great balance of run of the mill job, but also allows me to be creative with Create Imaginations.
If you want someone that it going to have the passion, creativity and desire for your book to succeed, then please get in touch; check out our website

Book Tour Guest, Author Inge-Lise Goss

Bio

Inge-Lise Goss was born in Denmark, raised in Utah and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Utah. She is a Certified Public Accountant and worked in that field for over twenty years. She now lives in the foothills of Red Rock Canyon with her husband and their dog, Bran, where she spends most of her time in her den writing stories dictated by her muse. When she’s not pounding away on the keyboard she can be found reading, rowing, or trying to perfect her golf game.

Author Intervew

1.      Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
Dreams. They were so vivid and kept swirling around in my head when I was awake. Then I started getting this nagging feeling I should put them on paper. Initially the task seemed to daunting so I tried to wipe the whole idea out of my mind. But instead, the same story invaded my dreams over and over again. I felt my subconscious was forcing me to try my hand at writing. That’s when I knew I had to give it a shot. I was surprised how easy the words flowed and became convinced a muse was guiding my fingers over the keyboard.

2.      Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I recently finished edits on The Cost of Crude: A novel, a mystery/thriller. It’ll be released later this year by Silver Tongue Press. Gwynn Reznick is thrown into a world of corruption after her best friend and co-worker dies in a car crash that turns out to be a planned murder. Determined to find the perpetrator, she works undercover with a private investigation team, led by Ruben Dordi, to acquire evidence. As they delve deeper into the crime, they find a trail of victims among Wilton Oil and Gas Company employees linked to a conspiracy that threatens a catastrophic pipeline disaster.

Right now, I’m working on Tegen Justice, a sequel to The Tegen Cave. It will have another crime family in it as Sara Jones uses her tegen abilities to try to damage the drug trafficking business. She’ll encounter unexpected obstacles along the way and come face-to-face with a tegen enforcer, a guy no one wants to come knocking on their door. And, of course, there will be spiders!

3.      Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Time management—balancing between family, writing, and social media I find to be a difficult and constant challenge.

4.      Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I have many favorite authors. My dark fantasy/horror favorite is Anne Rice. She has a great imagination and knows how to bring that to life in her characters and rich prose. Reading her Mayfair witches chronicles, made quite of few of us in a little literary club want to become witches.

5.      Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
No, quite the opposite. Since my launch party and book tour were online, I had to travel with my computer so I could bring them with me. Those events were only a click away. Other methods I’m using to promote my novel are also online, making my computer a constant traveling companion.

6.      Who designed the covers?
The cover art was done by Pit Vixen Designs.
7.      What was the hardest part of writing your book?
I loved every minute of writing it. The adventure was great! I never knew what was going to happen next until it flowed on the page. But at the same time, it completely consumed me. My hardest task was putting it aside so I could get back to other parts of my life. No one wants a spouse, mother, or friend who won’t budge from their computer.

8.      Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
In doing preliminary research for my novel, I learned some fascinating facts about various spider families’ predator abilities. Ordgarius magnificus, the magnificent spider, sets silk traps with a pheromone that mimics a moth’s. Believing a female moth is close by, male moths are lured to the trap. The spider subdues the pursuer, and the moth becomes a nutritious meal. Ant spiders of the Zodarlidae family imitate ants by using their front legs to mimic antennae. A trusting ant is soon devoured. Female flower crab spiders, Misumena vatia, can blend with flowers by changing their colors from white to yellow. They spread their sticky web and wait patiently for pollinators. The Hobo spider, Tegenaria agrestis, is one of a small number of spider species whose bites are painful and medically significant. The venom is so strong it sometimes causes necrosis, the death of cells and tissues around the injected area of the body.  They are known to be aggressive and vary significantly in appearance. The name Tegen was derived from this binomial name, Tegenaria agrestis. The spiders in The Tegen Cave are mutant Hobo spiders.

9.      Do you have advice for other writers?
Follow your dream! Never give up. Don’t get hung up if you get a rejection letter or a bad review. Remember, it’s only one person’s opinion. There are a lot of ups and downs as a writer, but you can overcome the downs, and then you can savor the ups. Write and read a lot so you can constantly improve your craft.

10.  Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you for all the encouragement, wonderful notes and comments, and most important, thank you for reading my novel!

11.  What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life?

I started by having people read it. They gave me some suggestions to improve the novel, and I incorporated most of them. Then I had it professionally edited before I made any submissions. Researching agents who handled dark fantasy and putting together my first query letter took me as long as writing the novel. I emailed a dozen letters to various agents, got nowhere. Then I moved onto publishers and, shortly thereafter, I signed a contract with Silver Tongue Press, and they brought my book to life.

THE TEGEN CAVE
PROLOGUE

As they drove away from town, Candice placed her hand on his thigh and gently squeezed. He turned, his dark blue eyes glowing, and gave her a coy smile. She sensed something was wrong from his distant behavior at the restaurant. She peered out the side window as the city lights vanished behind them and thought, Does he know about me?
Towering pine trees and leafy maples lined the road. Thick clouds snuffed out the moonlight. “The hotel was only a couple of blocks away,” she said.
“I want to take you some place special.”
She leaned closer and caressed his muscular arm. “Your room was pretty special last night.”
“This place you’ll never forget.”
Candice could no longer spot any house lights through the dense foliage. She felt a ping of uneasiness since she had only known her date for less than two days. Wanting to make her weapon easily accessible, she snatched her purse from the floor and lowered it onto her lap. “How far away is this place?”
“Right up here.” The blue-eyed man steered the car onto a dirt lane almost hidden by the overgrown scrubs and spreading trees. The corner of a stone house appeared, only lit by a sliver of the moon between the passing clouds.
“Whose house?” Candice asked. Then she blinked as the harsh glare from headlights approaching behind struck the side mirror. “I thought we were going to be alone?”
“Maybe the driver’s lost. Let me check.” He stepped onto the ground.
Candice turned, looked through the back window, and watched a man climb out of the vehicle as her date walked toward it.
The clanging sound of metal being hit echoed through the car. Candice swung her head around and saw a guy tapping on the car’s hood, flanked by two other men. Her eyes darted between them looking for weapons. None were visible. Wondering what was going on, she stuck her hand into her bag, searched for her pistol, and smiled when she felt the cold steel.
Her car door flew open and she gazed up at her date. “You a cop?”
“Far from it.” He leaned down and slid his hand behind her neck.
Something sharp scraped into her flesh. “Ow!” she yelled, tugging on his arm. “What have you got?” He flipped his hand over, revealing his palm. She stared at his fingers, trying to grasp what she was seeing as perspiration drizzled down her face. “What the..?”
“Crimes have consequences.”
“Who … what are you?” She attempted to raise her gun, but didn’t have the strength to free it from the bottom of her purse.
He dropped a spider on her chest just above her low-cut sweater. She opened her mouth to scream. No sound escaped. “She’s ready,” he said to the other men.
They lifted her limp body and headed toward the back of the house. Passing the stone structure, her date envisioned the pretty brunette he spotted in the hotel lobby and thought, She’ll be the next one I bring here.

New Book by the Best Selling Author, Dianna Bellerose- "Ashes and Ice" Only $1.99

Under the constant gloom of her crumbling marriage, Nancy fights to find the happiness her small family has lost.  With the family business in turmoil and Tom's drinking problems, the odds are stacked against them. Nancy and Tom must decide which path they will take...

                                                                   Chapter I

It was in the middle of March and the weather was cold and rainy. Everything was looking dark and unfriendly. It has been raining for the last couple of weeks.  The bad weather was taking a toll on Nancy, who was desperately trying to make sense of the life she was enduring. It had been almost a year since things went wrong. Nothing seemed to make her happy; her face was paled and tired. She was walking around the house with her head down. She made a morning coffee and sat on the chair. She was looking through the kitchen window and slowly sipping coffee. It was a quiet morning; the only noise was the running water in the shower. Suddenly, she heard steps coming her way. It was Tom coming into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. He looked well rested and ready to go to work.
”Good morning Nancy, I am going to work and taking my coffee to go, I think it is going to be a great day. I want to get to work a little bit earlier, so I can have time to finish my coffee before anyone comes.”
Nancy replayed, “Good morning Tom, I love your enthusiasm this morning. I hope you will have a great day, and I will see you soon.”
Tom reached to the cupboard and got a cup, he slowly pour the coffee inside and headed towards garage door. There was a sound of an automatic garage door opening and soon it was quiet again.
Nancy was finishing her coffee and getting ready to leave. She slowly dressed, deep in thought. She reflected on her life and her lack of recognition. She wanted to be admired for her hard work at home and dedication of her time to help Tom, all the while always ignoring her own needs. She took a purple shirt and put it on with a pair of jeans. It was getting warmer outside, so she did not have to wear anything else.  She hurried herself to the front door, but her sad thoughts were interrupted by the noise of an opening door coming from Jen’s room.
“Mom, I am late, I will call you later, and I wish you a wonderful day.”
Nancy continued, “Sounds like a plan, I will call you in case you forget, and I wish you pleasant day.”
Nancy was closing the open windows in the rooms, almost ready to leave. Her thoughts now focused on her relationship with Tom; he was pulling away from her and becoming more distant by the day. The phone rang and she picked it up,
“Hi Tom, I am almost ready, and I will be there shortly.”
“Yes, I remember about what you told me.”
“Great and goodbye”
Her purse was sitting on a chair next to her, so she reached for it and hurried into the garage and got in the car.

"Monster in the Mirror"- Available in Paper Version

"Monster in the Mirror"

Available in paper version....

The party was getting louder. The laughter was increasing and a sense of dread filled my heart. I frantically began scanning the room, looking for a place where they would not find me, but they always did! I needed to find a better hiding place, less likely to be found. But it was too late, they had entered the room, calling me by name, Ricky. The loud laughter that followed sent me running for the coffee table. I crawled beneath it, believing I was safely hidden under the big reddish brown table. But I was wrong. As they came closer, I grabbed hold of the table legs, holding with all the strength a six year old could muster. Yanked by my leg, I felt the pain in my arms and hands as the sudden jerk ripped the table from my grasp. I closed my eyes and screamed. Do you want more.......??

Author Interview

What inspired you to write your first book?

Heron’s Path is the first novel I wrote, but the second to be published. What inspired me to write it?  In college I encountered the poem “The Black Swan” by Randall Jarrell.  The narrator is a child mourning a sister.  The beauty of the writing and clarity of images touched me deeply and reading the poem many, many times planted the seed for a novel about sisters.  In fact, the first draft of Heron’s Path was called Swan Sisters. My sister, Gwyn, was the pretty, fair, and popular one, the older sister I idolized but also really didn’t know too well as she was almost eight years my senior.  I was the dark-haired, studious introvert. Strangely, having written the book helped me deal with her death nine years ago.  The lynchpin that changed Swan Sister to Heron’s Path was a trip my husband, Bill, and I took to the Klamath River in the extreme northern part of California in the early 90s where I was overwhelmed by the beauty and power of the area, along with its history.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I believe I have two.  One is literary and poetic, which is the way Heron’s Path is written.  The other is when my narrators have attitude, such as Deborah in my science fiction novels Hungry and Starved.  Serious issues are addressed but with a sense of humor and the absurd.

How did you come up with the title?

Deciding on the right one took fairly long. The old Indian doctor, Olena, tells Katy Farrow, the narrator of Heron’s Path, that her sister Celeste has to “take the heron’s path home.”  When I wrote that line I knew I had a title.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Heron’s Path is a story of transformation, of realizing you must let go of what one’s ego thinks it wants in order to find truth and unity.  The novel has been labeled “young-adult” because there are young characters in it, but most of its readers have been adults.  For both audiences, though, it is also a novel about the love between two girls who are sisters in spirit and the hope that we will all find “the mythical north,” to quote a friend, once our journey on Earth is done.

How much of the book is realistic?

On our trip to the Klamath River, we had stopped in Eureka, and in a used book store I found the memoir In the Land of the Grasshopper Song, Two Women in the Klamath River Indian Country 1908-1909 by Mary Ellicott Arnold and Mabel Reed.  This book chronicles their stint as Indian matrons with the Karuk people, written with humility, respect, and insight.  I read it as we camped along the river, on serious sensory overload from their story and the incredible power, mystery, and beauty that surrounded me.  One of my characters, Sarah Price, was inspired by Miss Arnold and Miss Read.  I researched the Karuk, but I created my own tribe, the Nanchuti, with its own culture, myths, and language.

What books have most influenced your life most?

In my late teens and twenties, almost everything Ursula LeGuin and Jane Yolen wrote were very important to me. I dreamt of someday writing with their skill, complexity, and intelligence. Connie Willis’ work, especially her story “Fire Watch,” made me yearn to create vivid and dangerous worlds with characters of great integrity. I can’t say that I’ve written that story, that book, yet, but I still hope to someday. The White Hotel by D.M. Thomas was another novel that opened me to the power of writing.  Marge Piercy’s A Woman at the Edge of Time came to me when I was stepping out on my own from a rigidly conservative upbringing and opened me to new ways to look at life and reality.  I recently thought I should reread it to see how it might stand up thirty plus years later.  The Victorians: Jane Austen, the Brontes, George Elliot all have held special places for me.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

I need to thank the two Bruces, as I call them: Bruce Coville and Bruce McAllister.  Both of them have offered tons of advice, encouragement, critiques, and have opened doors for me.  Bruce Coville’s work has especially influenced my writing for children, and Bruce McAllister’s my stories for adults.  I would highly recommend his novel The Village Sang to the Sea: a Memoir of Magic to see how personal history and magical realism can interweave to create a memorable reading experience.

What book are you reading now?

I just finished Call Me Jane, part of The Oshkosh Trilogy by Anthea Carson, a dark cautionary tale of a girl whose life has spun out of control.  I am currently reading two non-fiction books.  The first is called When the Body Says No, by Garbor Mate, M.D.  This book discusses the relationship between repressed emotions, stress, and disease.
