Author Interview:

1. When did you know you wanted to be a writer? What were some of your first steps toward making your dream a reality?

I don’t believe I ever thought about it in terms of a career. I had a good reading aptitude when I was young and liked reading adventure stories. The first thing I ever wrote was a poem to a potential girlfriend as a teenager. It wasn’t very successful, she went off to college and I never saw her again. I started many manuscripts over the years, but the first one I wrote to completion was Children of the Enemy. It then sat in a trunk for almost two decades before I found a publisher for it.

2. What 3 adjectives best describe you?

I’m curious, honest, and a realist.

3. Tell us about your books. Genre, titles, any favorite characters? What can we look forward to from you in the near future? WIP’s, upcoming releases

Children of the Enemy is in the crime genre, a brutal story about the Detroit drug business. I like the anti establishment hero Ray in the story, he’s a bit of an underworld version of Dirty Harry.

Alpha Wolves was written a decade ago, it’s a historical romance and sequel to an earlier book, Maggie Elizabeth Harrington, which is out of print. It deals with two of my favorite themes, romance and animal intelligence. Maggie acquires a wolf, and a husband, in the story.

The Death of Anyone is a love story and mystery about two Detroit Homicide Detectives searching for a killer of young girls. It’s a mystery, but the relationship of the two detectives is a big part of the story.

How do your values show up in your writing? What do you want readers to take from your writing?

No matter how carefully we disguise it there is always a portion of ourselves in our protagonists. My own beliefs, though veiled, are apparent in the major characters in my stories.

4. What do you look for in a good book?

I like books with a conclusive ending. I want a story I learn something from. I like books that thoroughly explore the characters as much as the conflict they are trying to resolve.

5.What are some of the best social media, marketing, and publicity tips you've come across?

First, write a good book, tell a good story. I think for building a platform the best source are book blogs. It will take time, but if you have a good story and get it front of readers, eventually you’ll build a following.

About the book:

Alpha Wolves is a historical story about a woman in love with two men who is faced with the reality she must choose between them. The story is set in Central Mine, a remote copper mining village in 1900’s northern Michigan. Maggie Harrington lives a quiet life where you can hear the wind without interruption, until Tommie Stetter comes back into her life.

The book is available at: www.nobleromancepublishing and www.amazon.com. You can read an excerpt of the book there, or on my website www.magicmasterminds.com

Author Interview:

• Who inspires you?

My family. I get much too serious about everything so I look to my hilarious husband and crazy boys to keep me laughing and focused on what matters most.

• Where do you find your ideas? Does something trigger them? Do you carry around a notebook in case inspiration strike?

Most of my books are inspired by nightmares. When I awake in a cold sweat and find myself still pondering the nightmare days later I know it's a good one to write about. My other source of inspiration is running, ideas just come as I try to distract myself from the pain!

• How do you research your books?

I hate research! I'm really lazy, I bug friends who are knowledgeable about the subject or Google it online and find the experts, then email them and ask a million questions.

• Have you written your entire life? Have you always considered yourself a writer?

No. I have always loved to read, but didn't allow myself to dream I could become a writer. After the birth of my second son I was fighting postpartum depression and napping a lot. My mom came to visit, kicked me out of bed and said, "You need a hobby, go write me a book." I obeyed like the good daughter I am. Haven't had time for a nap since.

• Why do you write? Is it something you've always done, or always wanted to do?

I write because I feel incomplete when I don't write, plus those people in my head who want me to tell their story keep bugging me if I don't write.

• What is your writing process?

I have a nightmare and start writing about it then I see other scenes in my mind as I run or scrub toilets (fun inspiration, eh?). I get it all down on paper then I revise and revise and revise. Someday I'll get organized and outline, but that doesn't sound like as much fun.

• If you could visit a place for research, where would it be?

Italy. Don't know how much research I'd get done but it would sure be fun!

• Where do you want to go with your writing career? Where do you see your writing career in five years?
I want to entertain readers with clean and fun romantic suspense. In five years I hope to have at least ten more books on the market and still be enjoying the experience of writing while raising my cute boys.
Thanks for having me on the blog!
Hugs,
Cami

Welcome to The Next Big Thing blog hop

Welcome to The Next Big Thing blog hop!!! Is this a chain letter for authors? No.

Does it promote hopping as a creative outlet for those suffering from writer’s block?

Nope.

Simply put, it’s a way for readers to get to know authors and the quirks that live inside them.

The chance to participate came from my LinkedIn buddy and fellow author, Dianna Bellerose.

Many thanks, Dianna, for this great imposed--, I mean, opportunity! To get to know a bit more about

Book Tour Guest- Author Hunter S Jones

Bio:

I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I write books and stories. There is nothing you will ever know or learn about me as interesting as the art form I create.

Author Interview:

1.What inspired you to begin writing?

Thank you for asking Dianna, I have always written articles for fashion, rock & roll and art. A few months ago I suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and major complications. It has given me time to be completely creative for the first time in my life.

2.How did you decide to publish this book? Why?

With a complete lack of mobility I have been able to research and write on a daily basis.
That combination of events has given me time to research and write. Everyone copes differently with life's setbacks. I drew on my days in the music business to help me understand copyrights and publishing well enough to feel confident in self-publishing my debut novels.

3.What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

The biggest challenge to writing Fables of the Reconstruction was the middle of the book. I knew how it would begin as well as what the ending would be. I eventually cut over 15000 words out of the original book before it was formatted to Amazon.

4.Most writers are readers. What books are on your "to-read" list?

Currently, I'm reading The Book of Paul by Richard Long. Next on the list is...well, so many great writers to choose from...I'll not choose a favorite and read the next few based on alphabetical order by the title of the book. That seems fair.

5.-- Question for fun sake---what was your favorite childhood meal and why?

Great question Dianna! As a child I loved French Toast covered in syrup.
