Author Interview:

• Who inspires you?

My family. I get much too serious about everything so I look to my hilarious husband and crazy boys to keep me laughing and focused on what matters most.

• Where do you find your ideas? Does something trigger them? Do you carry around a notebook in case inspiration strike?

Most of my books are inspired by nightmares. When I awake in a cold sweat and find myself still pondering the nightmare days later I know it's a good one to write about. My other source of inspiration is running, ideas just come as I try to distract myself from the pain!

• How do you research your books?

I hate research! I'm really lazy, I bug friends who are knowledgeable about the subject or Google it online and find the experts, then email them and ask a million questions.

• Have you written your entire life? Have you always considered yourself a writer?

No. I have always loved to read, but didn't allow myself to dream I could become a writer. After the birth of my second son I was fighting postpartum depression and napping a lot. My mom came to visit, kicked me out of bed and said, "You need a hobby, go write me a book." I obeyed like the good daughter I am. Haven't had time for a nap since.

• Why do you write? Is it something you've always done, or always wanted to do?

I write because I feel incomplete when I don't write, plus those people in my head who want me to tell their story keep bugging me if I don't write.

• What is your writing process?

I have a nightmare and start writing about it then I see other scenes in my mind as I run or scrub toilets (fun inspiration, eh?). I get it all down on paper then I revise and revise and revise. Someday I'll get organized and outline, but that doesn't sound like as much fun.

• If you could visit a place for research, where would it be?

Italy. Don't know how much research I'd get done but it would sure be fun!

• Where do you want to go with your writing career? Where do you see your writing career in five years?
I want to entertain readers with clean and fun romantic suspense. In five years I hope to have at least ten more books on the market and still be enjoying the experience of writing while raising my cute boys.
Thanks for having me on the blog!
Hugs,
Cami
